Small Batch, Single Source Grain, 100 Percent Rye Distilled and Aged atTattersall Distillery, Minneapolis
Rye whiskey purists have an amazing new reason to raise a glass in celebration. Announced today, and unveiled at a private invitation-only launch event, Tattersall Distilling introduces their long-anticipated 100 percent straight rye whiskey, distilled on-site in Northeast Minneapolis.
And there’s plenty to celebrate. Tattersall Straight Rye Whiskey is a Monongahela style rye, signifying an ultra high rye content in the mash, in this case 85 percent rye and 15 percent malted rye. While Monongahela ryes have their roots in Pennsylvania where George Washington marched against the Whiskey Rebellion in 1794, Tattersall Straight Rye Whiskey is one hundred percent Minnesotan.  Sourced from a farm 45 miles North of the distillery, Tattersall Straight Rye is small batch mashed, fermented and distilled in Northeast Minneapolis. It’s aged for two years in charred white oak barrels also sourced and coopered in Northern Minnesota. The result is a big, bold and spicy rye whiskey, at once flavorful and incredibly smooth, perfect for sipping or classics like a Manhattan or Old Fashioned.
“Think of this as bourbon’s bolder, northern cousin,” says Jon Kreidler, chief officer, Tattersall Distilling. “We’ve been planning for this day since we first started discussing building the distillery and we couldn’t be more excited that we finally get to share it with everyone.  We’ve already received some incredible feedback from early tastings at our launch party and can’t wait to get it in font of more people.”
Tattersall Straight Rye Whiskey will be available in late-February from a selection of fine liquor stores in the Twin Cities and from Tattersall Distilling while supplies last. 100 Proof and 50 percent alcohol by volume, Tattersall Straight Rye retails for an MSRP of $34.99 for 750ml.
Tattersall Straight Rye whiskey is the latest fine spirit introduction from Tattersall Distilling, a national leader in craft distilling and one of the fastest growing craft distillers in the United States today. September, 2017 – We have take off. Tattersall received approval to open a custom-designed cocktail bar at Minneapolis St. Paul International airport. Construction is set to start soon after Minneapolis hosts the Super Bowl in February 2018 and will become Tattersall’s second on-premise location after our distillery cocktail room in Northeast Minneapolis.

Developed in partnership with HMSHost, part of Autogrill S.p.A, the world’s largest provider of food and beverage services to travelers, the Tattersall cocktail bar will occupy 1,235 square feet on concourse C. Current concept designs include three distinct areas: a bar, lounge and light dining area and a décor plan that captures Tattersall’s refined elegance and masculine aesthetic. The space will also pickup references from Tattersall’s distillery cocktail room: a glass garage door frontage, curved wooden bar and antique chandelier overhead.

“We’ve been working hand in hand with HMSHost on the plans for this venture for some time,” says Jon Kreidler, chief officer and co-founder, Tattersall Distilling. “The entire pre-approval process has been flawless and we’re thrilled to get the green light. Now the real work – and fun – begins, developing a physical space, environment and menu that gives travelers what they really crave: a restful, re-energizing and top shelf experience wherever they’re headed or returning from.”

Thanks to readers of The Growler, Tattersall took home four Kind-Of-A-Big-Deal Awards — including Best Craft Distillery, Best Bartender – Bennett Johnson, Best Rum and Best Branding. Readers of the magazine vote for their favorites across food, drinks, culture and more in the annual award showcase.

“We’re honored and excited to win these awards,” said co-founder Jon Kreidler. “Especially with such tough competition across the state.”

Best Craft Distillery

“With the largest spirits portfolio of any Minnesota distillery, impeccable cocktails served in a stylish cocktail room, and a penchant for collaborative experimentation, Tattersall Distilling is changing the landscape of Minnesota spirits, one bottle at a time. The Northeast Minneapolis distillery is your pick for Minnesota’s Best Craft Distillery.”

Best Bartender: Bennett Johnson

“There are no shortages of places to have a cocktail in Northeast. But there’s nowhere we’d rather be than at the horseshoe bar at Tattersall Distilling, watching Bennett Johnson in all his mustachioed glory, mixing up some of the finest spirits in town.”

Best Rum: Tattersall Blackstrap Rum

“Now that it’s winter, we want a spirit that will warm us up from the inside out, and Tattersall has just the prescription: their Blackstrap Rum. A smoky, full-flavored, yet cozy spirit made from 100% molasses, it’s a stellar base for your daiquiri or mai tai.”

Best Distillery Branding

“Tattersall is the name for a pattern of colored lines, forming a grid on a solid background. Unpretentious. Straightforward. Classy. No matter how simple the plaid design is, it’s working for Tattersall Distilling, for their branding is clearly standing out on the shelf.”
